Sohn Jamal

Having originally grown up in Tokyo, Japan, John Small (artist name Sohn Jamal) moved to Miami, Florida in 2014 and has since been active in Miami’s exponentially growing music scene. As a producer, DJ and multi-instrumentalist, he has opened for the likes of Machinedrum, Vegyn, Iglooghost, and Plaid. He has released music on labels such as Schematic, Space Tapes and Night Young alongside his own cassette-based imprint, TY Tapes.

For Miami Community Radio, his show "Nothing Time" will highlight post-genre music through the lens of Japan and Miami's shared history of IDM and beat music.
